Blairgowrie is ideally situated for exploring Perthshire, Tayside and central East Scotland, with easy access to an extensive range of places to visit and explore.
Nestled on the banks of the river Ericht, Blairgowrie has a rich history, with flax growing and up to 12 spinning mills in operation on the river during the height of its industry. Also, famous for fruit growing, especially raspberries and strawberries, it has a history of colourful tales from the travelling people.
Today, Blairgowrie is popular with golfers, anglers, and walkers (it is the main starting point of the 60-mile circular Cateran Trail), and it is the gateway to Glenshee, which caters for year-round sports, including skiing, golfing, mountain biking, abseiling, hang gliding, and paragliding.
The following is some information on nearby sights and activities.
The Cateran Trail

The Cateran Trail circuit can be joined at any point, but traditionally it is approached by a 7.2-mile (11.6-km) spur from Blairgowrie to Bridge of Cally. From there, the main circuit can be followed clockwise or anticlockwise to return to Blairgowrie (either via Bridge of Cally or direct from Alyth). There is also a Cateran Minitrail, a 20-mile (32-km) loop that follows the northern part of the main trail, generally started at Kirkmichael to reach Lair, and returns offroad from Lair to Kirkmichael
Glenshee Ski Centre

It’s 3,504 ft of mountain adventure that beckons to skiers and snowboarders alike. From invitingly easy to the surprisingly steep, Glenshee offers the most extensive skiing and snowboarding in Scotland. Steeps and glades, pisted and unpisted, open bowls and narrow gullies, no matter your ability, Glenshee’s mountains have your name on them!
